Rita Kolar
Rita Margaret Kolar of Midwest City died peacefully Thursday, March 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in El Reno on April 5, 1945, to Lawrence and Elizabeth Reherman, Rita was the second of six children and grew up on her family’s dairy farm.
She earned her bachelor of education degree in 1965 from Sacred Hearth College (Newman University) in Wichita, Kan., and was a dedicated public educator for over 30 years in Oklahoma and Kansas.
During her college years, she met the love of her life, Herman Kolar, and they were married in 1966.
They lived in Wichita, Kan., and Colorado Springs, Colo., while Herman served in the U.S. Army.
In this period, they welcomed their first two children Andrea and Clint. Soon they relocated to Kingfi sher where they welcomed their third child, Kurt.
Rita enjoyed spending time with her family, including five grandchildren, traveling throughout the U.S. with trips to Europe and Brazil, and was active in her church, St. Philip Neri.
She was very talented in her hobbies of gardening, sewing, knitting, cross stitching, working with wood, ceramics and clay, but her favorite was painting.
Rita is survived by her husband Herman Kolar of Midwest City; children, Andrea and David Eden (grandchildren, Amanda, Erich, Christian) of Harrah, Clint and Cynda Kolar (grandchildren, Kaley, Heidi) of Moore and Kurt and Erica Kolar of Roseville, Calif.; her five siblings, Cecelia Voss of El Reno, Marie Tenborg of Wichita and Fred Reherman, Lawrence Reherman II and John Reherman all of Kingfisher.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Kingfisher,concluding with interment at Kingfisher Cemetery, followed by an informal lunch at Ross Hall.
Services are under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.
