John Bengs

John William Bengs was born Feb. 11, 1938, in Kingfisher to John and Maudie Bengs and passed way Jan. 9, 2021, in Kingfisher.

John served two years in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Alaska.

On Aug. 3, 1956, he married the love of his life, Aletha Cerny, and from this union came two children: Son, Gary, born March 13, 1965, and daughter, Linda, born March 17, 1967.

John worked at AT&T as a cable repairman for 38 years until his retirement. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing and working out in his big garden.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Maudie Bengs, and sister, Mary Ward.

He is survived by his wife, Aletha, of Kingfisher; son, Gary Bengs, of Kingfisher; daughter, Linda Britton of Kingfisher; grandson, Kemper Britton, of Kingfisher; granddaughter, Graci Endres, of Kingfisher; and sister Margaret Kuehn of Kingfisher.

During his last illness, he became extremely close to his niece, Susan Emig. John is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.

A graveside memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at the Kingfisher Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Liles officiating.

Services are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home-Kingfisher.
