The funeral for Donald Ray Cosper, 88, was Monday, June 24, at Hennessey First United Methodist Church.

Services were officiated by Rev. Sandy Shepherd. Burial followed at Hennessey Cemetery under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.

Don was born May 6, 1936, in Pawhuska to David and Ardith Cosper. He passed away June 21, 2024.

The Cosper family moved to Illinois in 1941 and lived in several small communities before settling in McLeansboro, Ill., in 1942. Don graduated from McLeansboro High School in 1954.

He married Patricia Wylie on April 1, 1958. To this union two children were born: Starla Lynn and Donald Blake.

In 1969, Don moved his family to Healdton where he worked in the oilfield and in 1976 he was transferred to Hennessey.

Don started out working for Sun Oil Co. and retired from Kerr-McGee Oil Co. in 2001.

Don was a member of Hennessey United Methodist Church, Powder and String Club and the Hennessey Lions Club.

Don is survived his wife of the home, daughter Starla, son Blake, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and his brother Harold Cosper and wife Jackie.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, and one grandson, Michael Bradyn Fuksa.
