Kingfisher’s Gabe Rednose is pictured having his arm raised after he fought his way into a gold medal bout at the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) Pan-American Championships. Rednose needed just 1:29 Thursday to earn a technical knockout over Trinidad and Tobago’s Ronnie Chadband in their light heavyweight semifinal in Monterrey, Mexico. That put Rednose into the finals where he was to face off against Mexico’s Aaron Rios. In his semifinal bout, Rednose used his grappling to score a takedown about a minute into the fight. Rednose worked from side control to a full mount and began to rain down punches when Chadband’s corner quickly threw in the towel. Father’s Day was a long one for some Kingfisher softball players and their families…but it became one to celebrate. Kingfisher won the Babe Ruth Softball League’s 14-under state championship with four straight elimination wins. The group of Lady Jackets won the title with wins of 11-0 and 4-0 over OK Rivals in the championship round at Little Axe. Kingfisher went 6-1 overall in the tournament. It started Sunday with a loss to Enid Select in the opening round of the bracket. The team then rattled off two straight wins to reach the finals, where it needed to beat OK Rivals twice. The whirlwind month of allstar games continued last weekend for Cashion High School classmates, teammates and cousins Vance Raney, left, and Jonah Jenkins. The duo most recently competed last Saturday in the Oklahoma Native All-State Association’s boys basketball games. The Native All-State games were held at the Monolithic Dome in Okmulgee. The Cashion duo were a part of the White team, which lost a narrow 101-97 decision to the Blue. A week earlier, Raney and Jenkins were joined by Cashion teammate Austin Frazier in the Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association All-Star games held at Hamilton Fieldhouse on the campus of the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. The 2A all-stars defeated the 3A all-stars 100-88. Just a couple of days prior to that, the group took part in the annual Classic Bowl all-star games in Woodward (see June 12 edition). Raney and Jenkins helped lead Cashion to three state tournaments during their careers, including a 2A state runner-up finish in 2022. [Photo provided]

Cashion High School’s cheerleaders attended the Jeff & Craig Camp held May 24-26 in Norman. The squad won the “Dynamite Stick” all three days and also hauled in Showmanship, Superior Stunts, Dynamic Dance and the Champions Cup. Team members are, from left: front row, Bailey Garrett, Abby Hobgood, Taylor Rouse, Cheyanne Martinez, Jaidyn Hudson, Avery Cotter, Reese Williams and Kaylee Gilliland; and back row, Bella Butler, Sierra McCracken, Kylie Henson, Mackey Roper, Lauren Jenkins, Story Phenninger, Hadley House and Megan Shafer. Individually, Hudson, Martinez, Williams, Hobgood and Henson were named All-Star cheerleaders.
