The Dover FFA chapter volunteered Sept. 21 at the Red Carpet Classic Special Needs Livestock Show, sponsored by the Seiling FFA chapter. There were 23 participants and 50 volunteers. Disabled children got to show sheep and goats. The participants, volunteers and spectators got to pet the goats, pigs, sheep and other animals at the petting zoo. Read moreJudges at the recent Tri-State Music Festival at Enid gave Kingfisher High School band the highest possible rating for their marching show “Con Fuego.” The result was particularly sweet since last year’s marching season was hampered by COVID-19. “The kids worked really hard and we were all grateful that Covid did not affect our rehearsals like last year,” assistant director Mandy Owens said. “We also appreciate the incredible support we’ve received from Dr. [Daniel] Craig, [KPS superintendent], the school board and our band boosters.” Drum majors Destiny Buckner and Syra Littlehawk hold the trophy (kneeling). In an email to the Times & Free Press, Kyle Marks wrote that the house is actually the Marks homestead in Blaine County. “That’s the house my dad grew up in,” he said. “That farm is like a second home to me and my family and one of our favorite places to go. Grandpa Marks and I worked over there all the time.” Kyle Marks, his dad Terry Marks, his aunt and uncle, his 89-year-old grandmother and his two sisters all have framed prints of Louthan’s photo hanging in their homes.
