Kingfisher County’s annual Distinguished Young Woman scholarship program (formerly Junior Miss) is slated for 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, and involves four county high school juniors. From left are Emma Stover, daughter of Gregory and Erin Stover of Okarche; Avery Davis, daughter of Lindsay and Kelly Kopp of Kingfisher and Brandon and Aly Davis; Allison Themer, daughter of Dennis and Tammy Themer of Kingfisher, and Shaina Hamil, daughter of Jeremy and Brandi Hamil. In addition to the Distinguished Young Woman title, qualifying the winner to attend the state program in Bartlesville next summer, the girls will compete for college scholarships in several categories, including talent, interview, poise, fitness and more. This year’s talent will include two monologues (Stover and Hamil), singing (Davis) and piano (Themer.) “Life Is a Highway” is the theme of this year’s program, directed by Tiffanie Barnett and Katie Ward.
