Fairview no match for Okarche at homecoming

Okarche got out to another blazing start Friday and rode that to a 56-34 home win against Fairview to open Three Rivers Conference play.

Before the games, Ryen Wittrock was crowned homecoming queen.

She scored seven points in the win, but it was Sophie Vandendriessche who spurred the torrid start.

Vandendriessche made three first-quarter 3-pointers and scored 11 points as the Lady Warriors got out to a 21-12 lead.

She scored four more points and Wittrock three when Okarche turned an 11-point halftime lead into a 20-point advantage by the end of the third quarter.

Vandendriessche ended her night with 15 points.

Jalie Rother scored 10 points while Tyson Endres added eight.

Okarche improved to 7-0 overall with the win.

Warriors outlast Jackets for 5th straight

Despite having four players foul out, the Okarche Warriors found a way to win their fifth straight game.

The Warriors outscored Fairview from the free throw and 3-point lines to earn a 60-51 win Friday on homecoming night.

In a game that featured 62 free throws (31 by each team), Okarche made 20 of them to 17 for the Yellowjackets.

The Warriors also made six 3-pointers to just four for Fairview.

That helped them overcome a deficit of 17 rebounds and the constant foul trouble.

Evan Endres, Hunter Mueggenborg, P.K. Harris and homecoming king Brayden Stover all fouled out in the game.

Harris, though, still managed to record a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Trenton Neiderer, who made all eight of his foul shot attempts, led the team with 14 points.

Mueggenborg scored 10 and Stover nine.

The Warriors led by a point at halftime, but outscored Fairview 17-13 in both the third and fourth quarters.

With the win, Okarche improved to 5-2. The Warriors are also 1-0 in conference games.
