Nabavi, run game put Cashion out of Watonga’s reach, 56-34

Cashion has been a solid three-headed offensive monster all season.
A fourth dimension emerged last Friday night.
Nick Nabavi ran for 132 yards and two touchdowns in front of a homecoming crowd as Cashion beat Watonga 56-34 to give the Eagles their first loss of the season.
Nabavi’s scoring runs were modest - 1 and 4 yards - but were part of an overall rushing attack of 246 yards.
That complemented the 324 yards and six touchdowns thrown by senior quarterback Ben Harman.
“When we’re that efficient running the ball, it makes us really hard to defend,” said Cashion coach Lynn Shackelford, whose team won its fourth straight game and improved to 4-1 overall.
It was the District A-3 opener for both teams as well.
Nabavi’s first TD run helped Cashion carry a modest 7-6 lead into the second quarter.
That’s when the Wildcats scored 28 unanswered points en route to a 35-14 halftime lead.

Watonga, which erased a four-touchdown deficit in the second half against Minco the week before, tried to keep up, but couldn’t.
The Eagles got a long touchdown pass from Joe Jackson to Chris Sanders near the end of the first half, but Cashion countered with LaGassse to start the third quarter.
When Deontre Dunn hauled in a 60-yard TD pass from Jackson in the third, Cashion’s Mason Manning scored on an 11-yard strike from Harman to start the fourth.
That score put the Wildcats up 56-18 before Watonga added two more long TDs in the final quarter.
Jackson did throw for 319 yards, but Cashion only allowed the Eagles 75 rushing yards.
Cashion, meanwhile, averaged 7.0 yards per attempt.
Harman added 92 yards on his 11 carries.
The ability to run kept things open for LaGasse and Manning, both of whom once again had monster games.
LaGasse’s 15 catches produced 154 yards and five scores.
Manning caught 10 more passes for 142 yards.
Cooper Frazee had eight tackles to lead the defense while Jayce Evans added six.
Cashion travels to Edmond Friday to play Oklahoma Christian Academy, another undefeated team that handed Hinton its first loss last week.
