James ‘Jim’ Crist
James A. Crist, 80, passed away July 31, 2021, in McKinney, Texas, from pre-existing conditions exasperated by COVID-19.
He was born Oct. 10, 1940, near Hitchcock, where he was raised on the family farm.
Jim graduated in 1962 from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering.
He was married to his childhood sweetheart, Wanda, for 62 years, had three sons and 10 grandchildren.
Jim had a great sense of humor and his approach to life was “everything will be alright.”
He was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather. He took great pride in his family’s achievements in sports, at university or professional success.
He also enjoyed family gatherings, teaching his grandchildren how to fish and he always looked forward to their time together.
Jim was an avid sports enthusiast who enjoyed watching his sons and grandchildren play football, baseball or soccer as well as supporting his college alma mater.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Verla Crist, and siblings Harold Crist Jr., Vonna Crist and Eldon Crist.
He is survived by his wife Wanda; sons Ricky, Loney and Doug; and siblings Kerwin Crist, Harlene Huckins and Gaytha Kreymborg.
Jim is also survived by his 10 grandchildren Kendall, Garrett, Quintin, Teagan, Connor, Cody, Duncan, Davis, Alessandra and Gabriella, as well as many beloved relatives and friends.

The service will be held at the Kingfisher Cemetery at 9:30 am. Saturday, Aug. 21, under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond.
