Merle Perry
Merle Lynn Perry, 65, of Hennessey, passed away Saturday, July 17, 2021, in Lufkin, Texas.
Merle was born in Enid on May 8, 1956, to Walter and Patsy Jones Perry.
He attended Hennessey Schools until his family moved to Edmond in 1970. He graduated from Edmond Memorial High School in 1975.
He attended vo-tech while in high school and won awards for his welding skills.
He married the love of his life, Robin Humes, in Hennessey on April 7, 1978.
His passion was working as a mechanic in the oilfield which he did until his retirement due to medical reasons.
He loved living in the Hennessey community and participating in and planning the Chisholm Trail Cattle Drive in 1993 and many Pat Hennessey Celebrations.
He is survived by one daughter, Allison Hurst and husband Chad of Hennessey, his mother Patsy Kirtley of Kingfisher, and two grandsons, Brendon and Grayson Hurst.
He was preceded in death by his wife Robin Perry, his father Walter Perry, one infant daughter, Lindsey Perry, and one brother, Johnny Perry.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation with Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home serving as custodian.
His remains will be interred in the Hennessey Cemetery following a private family memorial.
