J.R. Buford

Services for J. R. Buford, 85, were June 1 at Hennessey Cemetery Pavilion officiated by Jimmy Berkenbile. Arrangements were by Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.

J. R. was born at Lacy on Jan. 6, 1936, to Orin J. and Blanche E. McGinnis Buford and died May 24, 2021, at his home south of Ames.

He graduated from Lacy High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering. He was an electronics technician at Tinker Air Force Base for several years.

J. R. married Dorothy Dupy and they made their home on the farm.

He is survived by a son, Robert Buford and wife Sherry of Ames; daughter, Tammy Breed and husband Mike of Newalla; brother Clay Buford of Lacy; four granddaughters and several great-grandchildren.

J. R. was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one granddaughter, Ericka Mooney Cook.
