Barton, Lomega relays have strong regionals
Hallie Barton medaled in four events and - for the first time ever - every Lomega boys and girls relay team has qualified for the state track and field meet.
Barton was the champ in the 100 meter dash at last weekend’s Class A regional meet in Okemah.
She also was third in the 200 and part of the silver medal 400 and 800 relay teams.
Overall, Lomega was the regional runner-up behind Thomas (point totals were not available at press time).
Barton was joined on both relay teams by Ady Wilson, Darcy Roberts and Emma Duffy.
Lomega’s mile and twomile relay squads also qualified while Sydni Walker brought home another individual medal with her runner-up finish in the discus throw.
The Lomega boys took sixth with their 33 points.
They were led by Owen Duffy’s qualification in four events, including a gold medal in the 200.
He was also a part of the 400, 800 and mile relay teams that qualified.
Crescent’s girls were third in a 2A regional at Stroud while Cashion’s girls were fourth in their Alex regional.
For Crescent, Reydon Walker and Kinidi Taylor won individual gold in the 100 and long jump, respectively.
Lauren Lamb of Cashion qualified in three relays (400, 800 and mile) and was second in the 400.
She was joined on each relay team by Neely Tilley-Bedick, Reese Williams and Bella Wood.
For Hennessey, Adan Valdez and Kassidy Amburn visited in the medal stand at Stroud.
