Wynema Godsy
Wynema Colleen (LaRue) Godsy was born Jan. 16, 1925, in Leonard, Okla., the daughter of William L. and Veloura LaRue. She passed away on April 25, 2021, in Oklahoma City due to respiratory failure at the age of 96.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Edward Leon Godsy.
She is survived by her son, Jon Marcus Godsy and Margaret Ruth Godsy; her two brothers, William L. LaRue Jr. and Howard A. LaRue; her two grandsons, Jon M. Godsy II and his wife Jenny and Eric M. Godsy and his wife Heather; her two great-granddaughters, Woods and Greta Godsy; and her cousin, Patti Johnstone.
Colleen was a wonderful Christian and a devout member of Kelham Baptist Church.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Her heart was filled with love for family and friends alike.
She was a loyal church goer, Sunday School teacher and frequent visitor to friends and family in hospitals and nursing homes across the OKC metro area.
“Nana” was an inspiration to countless young people and elderly people who she came to know and love throughout the years.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, at the Vondel Smith Mortuary North, 13125 N. MacArthur Blvd.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 29, at Kelham Baptist Church. Interment will be at 2 p.m. in the Kingfisher Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in her name be made to Kelham Baptist Church, 3400 N. Meridian Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73112.
