It was a good day to be a Mecklenburg.

The trio of Mason Mecklenburg, Braxton Mecklenburg and Maddox Mecklenburg combined to win six medals - including three golds - on Saturday to help the Kingfisher High School boys team to a second-place finish in their own meet.

Mason Mecklenburg swept the 100 and 200 events and Braxton Mecklenburg won the high jump to help boost their team to 132 points in the 10th annual KHS Track and Field Invitational.

“I’m so proud of all of them,” said KHS track coach Kerni Lafferty “Not only are they doing great in individual events, but our guys are also working together really well as we try to figure out some of our relays.

“I think this team has a chance to surprise some people this year.”

Casady won the boys team title with 170.5 points. Weatherford was third with 114.

Despite battling a hip flexor strain, Mason Mecklenburg was able to post a 11.65 in the 100 and a 23.67 in the 200 to win his golds.

The senior also joined Connor Hine, Dynton Townsend and Max Washington to take second in the 800 meter relay.

He ended his four-medal day with Hine, Townsend and Matthew Stone as they took home second in the mile relay.

Meanwhile, Maddox Mecklenburg, a sophomore, got his silver medal in the two-mile relay as he teamed up with Hine, Stone and Jayden Newkirk.

Braxton Mecklenburg - a cousin to brothers Mason and Maddox did his damage in the field.

The junior won the high jump with a leap of 6 feet. He barely missed his final attempt at 6-2.

Braxton Mecklenburg was a regional champ and state qualifier in the event as a freshman in 2019.

On top of running the relays, Stone was second in the long jump as he leapt 20 feet, 6 1/4 inches.

Ben Reherman won bronze in both the 110 and 300 hurdles while Kale Hart was second in the 400 and Newkirk third in the 800.

Following are team scores and events in which local athletes scored points for their respective teams at the KHS Track and Field Invitational.
