Barbara Jean Farrar
Barbara Jean Farrar was born Feb. 2, 1934, in Oklahoma City, to George and Beulah (McHone) Pickle, and entered into the arms of our Lord on Jan. 25, 2021, in Dover, at the age of 86.
Barbara gave her life to Christ at the age of 16 and has been a member of the Baptist Church, since moving to Dover.
Barbara was raised and educated in the Edmond area, and graduated from Edmond High School in 1952.
Morris and Barbara were united in marriage on July 26, 1952, in Guthrie. Three sons were born unto this union; Randy, Steve and Mark.
Barbara was always by Morris’ side, assisting him in all his adventures. They began their married life farming in the Edmond-Arcadia area and moved to their permanent home in Dover in 1962. One of Morris and Barbara’s biggest adventures was establishing their pipeline company in 1968, Farrar Construction, Inc., which is still owned and in operation through their three sons. The company has provided employment for many family members and members of the surrounding communities.
Barbara wore many hats while working and helping to grow the company, before her retirement in 1996, to spend more time with her sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of her favorite things to do with her granddaughters, was to take them on annual shopping trips, randomly as well as before school, times remembered and cherished by all.
Barbara’s many accomplishments were that of a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend and most of all, a loving child of God. Barbara will be remembered for her beautiful smile and kind words.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Doris Paine and four brothers: Wilbur (Bud), Gene, Bill and Richard Pickle; sisters-in-law: Wilda Pickle and Alpha Mae Merkle, and two brothers-in-law, Eulin Cleek and Jim Merkle.
