Joseph ‘Joe’ RomanNose
Joseph”Joe"RomanNose was born to Alfred “Lefty” RomanNose and Pauline Strong on Friday, Oct. 4, 1946.
He died Dec. 12, 2020, in Oklahoma City at the age of 74.
After the death of his mother, Joe was raised by his great-grandmother Rosa Paupa along with his siblings Alice Ruth (Johnston) Coffee and Hazel (Tallbear) Fuller.
He grew up in Kingfisher where he attended school and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
After graduating from Kingfisher High School, he joined the U.S. Army in 1967. While enlisted he fought in the Vietnam War and retired out in 1970. After the service, he met and married Betty “Chick” Redbird. To this union was born three children: Alfred T RomanNose, Allen Emon RomanNose and Josetta Pauline RomanNose. Joe worked for the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma for many years before he retired. He also retired from Walmart of Kingfisher.
Joe loved his family and enjoyed helping others.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his sisters Alice Ruth (Johnston) Coffee and Hazel (Tallbear) Fuller; and son Allen Emon RomanNose.
He is survived by his son Alfred RomanNose and Carmen Yellowface of Red Deer, Alberta, Canada; and his daughterJosetta RomanNose of Kingfisher.
He’s also survived by four grandchildren: Jomita Jo RomanNose of Red Deer, Alberta, Canada; Alenya, Brandon Jr. and Elijah Wermy, all of Kingfisher; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to Hazel Swanegan and Gerry RedBird who aided in Joseph’s care until his call home.

A wake was 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16th at Sanders Funeral Service Chapel in Kingfisher. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, December 17, at Concho Cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.
