COVID cancellations

Crescent has moved into the next round of the Class A playoffs without taking the field.

The Tigers were set to host Rush Springs Friday in the “play-in” round. However, Rush Springs opted out of the game this week.

Crescent will play the Hinton-Wayne winner in what is now the second round of the playoffs this week.

Okarche’s basketball games at Calumet were postponed at the last hour last Tuesday.

Okarche made the trip to Calumet for the games, but a rise in cases among Calumet team members forced the postponement about an hour before tipoff.

Okarche has seen its own rise in cases, mostly, quarantine absences and has since moved to virtual learning in the junior high and high school.

It has also postponed or canceled all extra-curricular activities for a two-week period.

That included Friday’s home basketball games with Lomega as well as two other regular-season games (see Page 1 story).
