Players, coaches earn conference honors
The Kingfisher softball team racked up a number of honors in the Tri-County Conference this season.
The Lady Jackets earned the conference championship with their 5-1 record, which included a 4-3 victory over conference kingpin Chisholm last week.
On Wednesday, the team and coaching staff was rewarded for the efforts.
Five players earned all-conference and the coaches were named staff of the year after a vote by conferences coaches.
Earning all-conference were seniors Olivia Wilcox, Mia Farrell and Kaycee Karcher and sophomores Mya Dewberry and Natalie Dick.
The coaching staff consists of head coach Danny Green and assistants Audra Smalley and Aniessa Edsall.
Wilcox was named to the team as a pitcher.
She threw 180 of Kingfisher’s 208 innings this season.
The right-hander only gave up 52 earned runs for a 2.60 ERA.
She struck out 204 batters while walking just 41. Opponents managed a .227 batting average against her.
Wilcox also led the team with a .381 batting average and was second on the team with 28 RBIs.
Karcher was named as a shortstop. She batted .284 and was third on the team with 21 RBIs. She was second on the team with 34 runs scored and led the team with nine doubles.
Farrell hit .270 while batting leadoff. She was named as a centerfielder.
Her 30 hits tied her for second on the team while she led the team with 39 runs scored and 15 stolen bases.
Dewberry was selected as a catcher.
She was third on the team with a .291 average.
She led the team with 34 RBIs and was tied for second with 30 hits. She also tied for the team lead with two home runs.
Dick was selected as a third baseman. She hit .273 for the Lady
She hit .273 for the Lady Jackets.
She was tied for second with 30 hits and was third on the team with 27 runs scored. She also knocked in 20 runs.
KHS entered the playoffs this weekend with a 24-13 overall record.
