Lester Evans

There will be no formal services for Lester Albert Evans, 96. Cremation arrangements are by Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.

Lester Albert Evans, 96, Hennessey, died Friday, Aug. 21, 2020, at Hennessey Care Center.

He was born in Chickasha on Sept. 29, 1923, to Albert and Mary Capitola Barny Evans.

Lester married Venita Wickham in Kingfisher on May 29, 1949. The couple were married for 70 years until her passing in 2019.

He worked as a custodian at Okarche and Kingfisher Public Schools for many years.

Lester is survived by three sons, Johnny Evans and wife Peggy of Omaha, Neb., Stephen Evans and wife Linda of Kingfisher, Michael Evans and wife Candy of Galveston, Texas; one daughter, Sherri Huntsberger and husband Steve of Hennessey; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Venita.

There will be no formal services. Cremation arrangements are by Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.

Memorial donations may be made in his name to Hennessey Care Center or Russell Murray Hospice with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund.
