Robert ‘Bob’ Kunau
Robert Louis “Bob” Kunau was born Feb. 19, 1928, in Loyal to Verla and Harry Kunau.
He joined his loved ones in Heaven on Saturday, June 27, 2020, while at his home in Kingfisher.
Bob and his family lived in the Loyal area on a farm until he was 9 years old.
They then moved to Oklahoma City where he went to high school.
He joined the United States Air Force and was a Paratrooper Ranger serving in the Korean War, returning home in 1949.
He was married to Oleta Richardson and they had three children, Connie Musaeus, Paula Oats and Steven Kunau.
He became an electrician. The family lived in Chickasha and, later, Tulsa.
Bob was divorced and lived in Red Bluff, Calif., by his brother, Leo, and after his brother’s passing, he moved to Kingfisher where his mother lived.
He then married his second wife, Lela Skrimager.
They lived happily in Kingfisher for 27 years.
Lela passed in January 2020.
Bob was very loved and no one who met him didn’t like him. He was an honest, loving, very good man.
He was a committed, loving husband and father. He was a one of a kind in all the best of ways.
He overcame some tragedies that would have made many people feel sorry for themselves, but he overcame them without complaining.
He loved football, playing golf and playing cards. He was an excellent bridge player.
He loved playing golf so much that family believes it played a part in his longevity.
He was a happy person and it was a joy to be around him.
Bob was also preceded in death by brothers Leo Kunau and Don Kunau and sisters Lavon Bond and Joann Clayton.
He is survived by his daughter, Connie, who will miss her loving “Daddy” greatly.
Bob had a large extended family on Lela’s side and is survived by Lela’s children, Linda Jackson, Sue Yost, and Wade Skrimager.
Bob had many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews whom he loved and who all loved him very much.
A memorial service was 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, at First Baptist Church in Kingfisher under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.
Donations in Bob’s name may be made to a cancer foundation or any organization of the donor’s choice.
