Joan Quintle Westhoff
Joan Elaine (Quintle) Westhoff died at the age of 75 on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 in Plano, Texas, due to complications of cancer.
Joan was born on June 19, 1945, in Kingfisher, to Ed and Louise Quintle.
Joan graduated from Omega High School in 1963. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s of education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.
Joan took her first teaching position in Liberal, Kan., where she met her husband, Michael Westhoff.
They married a year later and had their first child, Kristin, before moving to Houston, Texas.
Joan continued to teach while living in Houston until the birth of their second child, Heather.
Joan was busy volunteering and enjoyed being a fulltime mother.
Their third child, William, was born just three years into their move to Houston.
Joan moved to California, Oregon and California again before moving to Austin, Texas, and finally to her home of 20 years in Plano, Texas.
The move to Plano was an easy one; she and Michael wanted to be near their daughters and grandchildren.
Joan’s infectious laugh and giving heart made her the perfect Grammy (Bydee) to her seven grandchildren.
Joan was a generous, loving and vivacious woman, embraced by many friends and family who loved her and will miss her dearly.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents Ed and Louise Quintle and her nephew, Mark Quintle.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Michael Westhoff; their children Kristin Westhoff, Heather Davis and her husband Derek and William Westhoff; her grandchildren William, Emma, Megan, Lauren, Kate, Morgan and Jordan; her loving brother, Gary Quintle; her oldest brother, Edward, his wife Velta, and her nephew Paul.
Joan was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She gave her all to every role she played in life, especially when it came to her family.
Both daughters followed in their mother’s footsteps by becoming elementary school teachers.
The family had a private mass to celebrate the life of Joan.
