Themer is ‘Super 5’ while 3 others also pick up OBCA Academic All-State honor

FOUR SENIORS from Kingfisher County recently earned Academic All-State status from the OBCA. Joining the ranks was Harrison Themer of Kingfisher, who was also named "Super 5".
Add another major award for a Kingfisher High School boys basketball player.
Only this time, the honor represents accomplishments on and off the court.
Senior Harrison Themer was named to the Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association Academic All-State Super 5 team.
Themer was one of 46 boys basketball players statewide and four from Kingfisher County to be named to the OBCA’s Academic All-State team.
Joining him locally are Kaden LaFortune and Alex Nabavi of Cashion and Connor Walker of Lomega.
Joining Themer on the Super 5 are Jared Cox of Canton, Preston Weaks of Duncan, Luke Hamilton of Pauls Valley and Guy Wood of Crossings Christian School.
“This is a pretty big deal because they put a lot of consideration into the classroom and to the contributions on the court,” said KHS head coach Jared Reese of the Super 5.
Themer appeared in all 27 games for KHS in 2019-20.
He averaged 5.0 points and 1.0 rebound a contest as the team went 26-1 and qualified for the Class 4A state tournament.
The Jackets reached state all four of Themer’s years and won titles in 2017 and 2019. The team has gone 110-6 during that stretch.
To be eligible for OBCA Academic All-State, student-athletes must have a minimum score of 24 on the ACT. Themer scored a 35.

He was earlier named a National Merit finalist and earned Academic All-State from the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence.
He’s currently the student body president at KHS, is a class valedictorian and has earned multiple state and national championships in FFA competitions.
Themer plans to attend Oklahoma State University and major in mechanical engineering with a pre-med option.
Walker also was named Academic All-State by the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence.
A class valedictorian, he also plans to attend OSU and will major in Management of Information Systems.
LaFortune and Nabavi have a number of academic honors including National Honor Society. Both are also class valedictorians.
LaFortune plans to attend OSU while Nabavi signed to play football at Oklahoma Baptist University.
