Basketball playoffs beginning

Three local schools began their basketball playoff quests last weekend and the remainder of the Kingfisher County-area teams join the fray this week.

That includes Kingfisher High School, which wrapped up its regular season Monday with a home sweep of Oklahoma City Storm (See story on Page 6).

KHS teams will host Elk City in a Class 4A district Friday at the APB.

The girls will tipoff at 6:30 p.m. and the boys will follow at approximately 8.

Win or lose, both teams will advance to the regional tournament the next week. That, too, will be held in Kingfisher beginning Thursday, Feb. 27.

In Area I of Class 2A, Crescent travels to Pawnee for its district.

The Tigers will play Stroud at 8 p.m. Friday in an elimination game. The winner advances to play Pawnee at 8 p.m. Saturday for the district title.

The Lady Tigers received a bye in the first round and will play for the district crown at 6:30 p.m. Saturday against the Stroud-Pawnee survivor.

In Area IV of Class 2A, both Cashion teams received byes and will play in their respective district championship games.

The Cashion girls will play at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and the boys will follow against the winners of Friday’s games between Hinton and Rush Springs.

Those games will be played in Hinton.

Hennessey will host twoteam districts in Class 3A on Friday.
