Drummond no match for Lomega’s squads

With the regular season nearing its end, the Lomega boys were able to pick up an easy road win.

The Raiders got double figures from three players in Friday’s 67-28 victory at Drummond.

The “easy” part didn’t come until after the first quarter.

Drummond kept pace with Lomega as it only trailed 17-16.

The Bulldogs’ Braden Longpine scored 11 points in the quarter, but managed just two free throws the rest of the contest.

His team’s output mirrored Longpine’s the rest of the way.

Lomega outscored Drummond 14-2 in the second quarter and then 16-4 in the third.

The second-quarter surge was spurred by Tate Ott’s three 3-pointers.

Noah Snowden, who also had a big first quarter, scored seven and Dilon Fisher five in the third-quarter onslaught.

The Raiders also didn’t let up in the fourth as Riley Lumpkin scored 10 of his 12 points, allowing Lomega to continue to pull away.

Snowden led all scorers with 19 points.

Blake Snowden scored 10 while Ott finished with nine.

Lomega, which ended its regular season Tuesday (after press time) against Pond Creek-Hunter, was 16-8 after Friday’s win.

Lady Raiders pull away in middle quarters

Top-ranked Lomega didn’t need a fast start to defeat Drummond on the road last Friday.

It just needed one of its patented runs.

That came in the second quarter and continued into the third as the Lady Raiders won going away, 61-28.

Up by just three points after the first quarter, Lomega held Drummond to two second-quarter points in building a 15-point lead.

The Lady Raiders then erupted for a 25-6 run in the third quarter.

Emma Duffy and Adysen Wilson combined for 17 points in the third quarter. Five more points came from freshman Sydni Walker.

Duffy eventually led the team with 17 points, all through three quarters. She scored six in the first to help get the Lady Raiders kickstarted.

Wilson scored 13 of her 15 in the second half.

Walker added nine and Darcy Roberts scored seven.

Lomega, now 22-2, has won 19 straight games.
