Traffic accidents
The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following traffic accidents:
Jan. 5, 10:40 p.m. — Countrywood Assisted Living Center, 1604 S. 13th Street. Marlene Lucille Creps, 55, of Kingfisher, driving a 2017 Chevrolet Traverse; Baelee Mikaela Hill, 18, of Kingfisher, driving a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze. According to the report from Officer Sam Ridnehour, the incident occurred on the north side of the building. Creps stated she was backing out of the parking spot and was not paying attention, and struck the Hill vehicle in the process.
Jan. 7 — 1303 S. Main Street. Kathy Sue Smith, 60, of Kingfisher, driving a 2010 Dodge Caravan; Blair Braun, 37, of Kingfisher, driving a 2018 Ford Expedition. According to the report from Officer Jason East, the Smith vehicle (a Cherokee Strip Transit van), backed into the parked and unoccupied Braun vehicle. Damage to both units was minor.
Jan. 8, 6:32 a.m. — Main and Wyatt. Kayler J. Price, 24, of Kingfisher, driving a 1995 Toyota CST; Stephanie Marie Basye, 32, of Kingfisher, driving a 2001 GMC Yukon. According to the report rom Lt. Travis Gray, Price said that the accident was his fault. Price said his windows were fogged over and he did not stop for the stop sign on eastbound Wyatt at Main. As a result, his vehicle was struck by the Basye vehicle, which was traveling south on Main. Price did not report injuries. Bayse reported possible internal and external trunk injuries. Both vehicles were disabled.
Jan. 8, 4 p.m. — Main and Starlite. Tyler James Lott, 20, of Hennessey, driving a 1995 Toyota 4RT; Jason A. Corwin, 36, of Kingfisher, driving a 2013 GMC 2KH. According to the report from Officer Charles Trout, both units were traveling northbound on Main in the construction zone. Corwin, pulling a trailer, had slowed just south of the intersection of Main and Starlite. Lott collided with the back of Corwin’s trailer, causing damage to the trailer and hitch. Lott’s vehicle sustained front end damage.
Jan. 11, 7:30 a.m. — Main and Will Rogers. Christopher Glynn Johnson, 22, of Kingfisher, driving a 2018 Honda Civic; Scott Allen Taylor, 49, of Okarche, driving a 2019 Ford F250. According to the report from Lt. Travis Gray, Johnson said he either zone out or fell asleep. Taylor advised that he was stopped for traffic and saw the Johnson vehicle coming up behind him fast, and not looking as if it were going to stop, so he held his brake so he would not hit the vehicle in front of him. At that point, the Johnson vehicle struck the Taylor vehicle in the rear. The Johnson vehicle was disabled, while the Taylor vehicle was still functional. No injuries were reported.
Jan. 26, 3:24 p.m. — Main and Broadway (US-81 and SH-33). Stanton Blake Sawyers, 17, of Dover, driving a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado; Chad A. Conder, 42, of Batesville Independence, Ark., driving a 2013 Peterbilt. According to the report from Officer Aaron Schlegel, Conder was making a left-hand turn from south-bound Main onto eastbound Broadway. Sawyers was traveling north on Main in the right-hand lane and had a red traffic signal, but did not stop. Conder, driving the Peterbilt, observed that the Sawyers vehicle was not going to stop, and slammed on his brakes, causing skid marks. The two vehicles impacted in the intersection, disabling the Sawyer vehicle and causing minor damage to the Conder truck. No injuries were reported.
Jan. 26, 6:25 p.m. — 1309 S. Main Street. Francisco Anaya Corral, 29, of Hennessey, driving a 2015 Chevrolet; Connie Colton Graves, 57, of Kingfisher, driving a 2015 Ford Escape. According to the report from Officer Richard Staton, Corral was stopped at a stop sign on the north edge of 1309 S. Main Street (Heritage Pharmacy), facing west. Graves was stopped directly behind. Corral backed in an easterly direction, striking the Graves vehicle.
