Cashion basketball brings home pair of wins from Stroud
Cedar Stewart made her debut and Cashion won its third straight game Saturday afternoon in a matinee performance at Stroud.
Stewart, a 5-foot-6 senior guard who moved to Cash-ion just before the Christmas break, scored seven points as Cashion defeated the Lady Tigers 55-51.
After falling behind by two points at halftime, Cashion outscored Stroud 17-12 in the third quarter, then clung to its lead in the fourth.
Cashion helped seal it by making all six free throw attempts in the fi nal quarter.
The win improved Cash-ion to 5-1.
The Lady Wildcats got a team-high 13 points from Lauren Lamb.
Neeley Tilley Bedick added 12 points while Kai-tin Taylor and Brook Shelly added to the balanced effort with eight points apiece.
The loss ended a fi vegame win streak for Stroud, which dropped to 5-2.
Wildcats cruise to win
A youthful Stroud team was no match for Cashion’s veteran squad as the Wildcats roared to an 82-27 road win last Saturday.
Cashion led 23-4 after a quarter and barely slowed down in improving to 6-0 on the season.
Four Wildcats reached double figures in scoring, led by Jacob Woody’s 20 points.
Alex Nabavi added 11 points while Austin Frazier and Vance Raney scored 10 points apiece.
Stroud was 1-6 after the loss, which was its fifth straight.
