Dominguez continues hot hand
Eagle guard drops 30 on Meeker during Hennessey sweep
Juan Dominguez continued his breakout season Tuesday for the Hennessey boys basketball team.
The junior torched Meeker for 30 points in a 74-61 victory at home.
“He’s really athletic and can score in a lot of ways,” coach Brady Page said of Dominguez.
The shooting guard nailed five 3-pointers against Meeker and helped the Eagles out to a 24-8 lead.
Meeker hung tough the rest of the way, but couldn’t close the gap.
Senior Angel Rodriguez added 19 points, right at his season average.
Rodriguez helped lead the Eagles to the Class 2A state championship game a year ago.
Dominguez “wasn’t quite ready” to contribute to that team, but now leads the Eagles with 20.6 points per game.
Hennessey improved to 6-1 overall with its fourth straight win.
