Kingfisher JV, 7th grade get wins over Bobcats
Cade Cooper had a pair of touchdown runs and Jax Stern-berger accounted for four total touchdowns Monday in Kingfisher JV’s 48-0 victory over Bridge Creek.
Both of Cooper’s scoring runs came in the first quarter as he found the end zone from 4 and 15 yards.
Sternberger got it going in the second quarter as Kingfisher’s lead grew to 34-0 by halftime.
The freshman scored on a 1-yard run and later threw a 10-yard pass to Harrison Evans.
In between, Luie Torres picked up a score on a 4-yard run for the Jackets.
The second half saw Stern-berger score on a pair of 38-yard runs, one in each the third and fourth quarters.
Aaron Delatorre was good on 6 of 7 extra-point attempts.

The seventh grade picked up its second win of the season by knocking off Bridge Creek 14-8.
“It was a great team effort,” coach Doug Jech said. “It was our most complete game of the season.”
All the points were scored in the first half.
Kingfisher saw Daniel Guerrero get a big block from Will Mercer to spring him for a 32-yard touchdown in the second quarter. He also added the two-point run to tie the game at 8-8.
Luke Strickland added a 35-yard touchdown on a reverse later in the second.
The defense took care of the rest, pitching a second-half shutout.
Jech said Maddox Jarvis, Jairo Velarde, Guage Roedel and Santiago Ortega stood out on the defensive side.
He also praised the efforts of Mason Alig, Mercer and Guerrero on offense.
The 2-5 seventh graders finish their season at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Okeene.

The Kingfisher eighth grade squad was dealt a 14-8 loss by Bridge Creek.
The team’s lone score was a 52-yard run by Cade Covalt, who also added the two-point run, in the fourth quarter.
Jech said Covalt and Cy Jones had solid offensive performances.
Defensive standouts were Tanner Parker, Jake Reagan and Damien Haynes.
The loss dropped the Jackets to 3-4. They’ll wrap up their season at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Cashion.
