Cashion wins 2 against ranked Luther
Cashion’s third straight win Tuesday night came in impressive fashion.
The Lady Wildcats knocked off Class 2A’s 20th-ranked Luther 55-44 on Senior Night.
Up four points at half, Cashion outscored the Lady Lions 16-8 in the third quarter to garner some breathing room.
Bella Schenk and Tatum Robertson played a big part in that.
Schenk buried two treys and Robertson added six of her own points in the quarter.
Both finished the game with 14 points.
The duo also had big first quarters as Cashion opened up an 18-12 advantage.
Robertson scored eight of her points and Schenk had six points.
Neeley Bedick helped close out the win by going 6 of 6 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter.
Bedick finished her night with 11 points.
Cashion was 9 of 12 from the foul line as a team in the final eight minutes to preserve its lead.
The win upped its mark to 13-6 on the season.
It was the second win for Cashion against a ranked foe this season, the first against one in 2A.
Jacob Woody had another monster game and Cashion appears to have returned to its winning ways.
Woody scored 29 points Friday night to lift the 18th-ranked Wildcats past No. 14 Luther 71-60 in a battle of 2A foes.
It was Cashion’s third straight win after losing three in a row since winning the Three Rivers Conference Tournament last month.
Cashion led Luther throughout much of the game, but the Lions pulled within five points entering the fourth quarter.
The Wildcats managed to surge further ahead in the fourth to seal the win and improve to 14-5.
Alex Nabavi added 17 points for the Wildcats.
Freshman Jonah Jenkins added 13 more and Ethan Suntken eight.
