Kingfisher Police Department reports

The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports:

Jan. 6, 2:30 p.m. — Malicious injury to property; stolen credit card information. Officer Aaron Schlegel was dispatched to Double D’s gas station where he took a report from a woman who advised her boyfriend, a 23 year-old Kingfisher man, had found pictures on her phone of the front and back of her credit card. He then allegedly sent these pictures to himself. When confronted about it, the man allegedly began punching the hood of the woman’s car, a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze, causing an estimated $1,063.80 in damage. Due to the estimate, a warrant was issued for the man’s arrest, for felony malicious injury to property.

Jan. 8, 3:04 p.m. — DUI; Child endangerment. Officer Schlegel conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of Brick’s Corner Store after being notified of a reckless driving vehicle. The driver, a 37 year-old Watonga woman who had no auto insurance, was found to be intoxicated, and her 2 year-old son was unrestrained in the front seat while his car seat was in the back.

At one point during the traffic stop, the woman was in the front passenger seat of the officer’s patrol car for questioning. The officer had stepped out to speak with a representative of DHS about the child. Meanwhile, the woman allegedly took the officer’s wallet from the car’s center console and stole a check and $13 in cash from it. These items were later recovered during her book-in process. She was also charged with petit larceny.

Jan. 11, 9:50 a.m. — Breaking and entering. Sgt. Travis Gray took a report from a concerned citizen about a neighbor’s house being broken into at 217 S. Eighth Street. The subject reported that someone had entered the window of the home’s master bedroom and pilfered the room. The officer located the homeowner at work, and later in the day she notified the officer that nothing was taken from inside the home, but a bike was missing from the front porch. She said drawers had been gone through, but a jar of money on top of the dresser was not taken. She added that her 13 year-old son was home sick from school, but slept through the whole thing.

Jan. 13, 3:27 p.m. — No driver’s license; possession of controlled dangerous substance. Officer Justin Conner conducted a traffic stop at Eighth Street and Locust after observing a vehicle with a defective tail lamp. While speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of marijuana from the vehicle. The driver, a 24 year-old Oklahoma City man, stated that he has never had a license.

During a search of the driver’s person and vehicle, officers located two glass smoking pipes, and two clear bags with a white crystal substance inside.

The driver, and his passenger, a 25 year-old Kingfisher woman, were placed under arrest and transported to the Kingfisher County Jail.

Jan. 13, 4:54 p.m. — No driver’s license. Officer Conner was traveling east on Broadway from Ninth Street when he observed a silver Dodge Neon. He recognized the driver, a 32 year-old Kingfisher man, and knew he did not have a license either in Oklahoma or in Kansas where he came from. As the officer made a turn-around to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle picked up speed. The officer noted in his report that the vehicle was traveling faster than it should have been in the residential neighborhood.

The officer activated his emergency lights, but the vehicle rolled through the stop sign at Admire and Eighth Street. The suspect vehicle continued to pick up speed along Eighth until coming to a stop in front of his residence in the 100 Block of North Eighth.

The officer made contact with the subject and asked him if he had his driver’s license and insurance, which he did not. The subject was then placed under arrest for no valid license and transported to the Kingfisher County Jail without incident.
