Choate team has top Chili Cookoff wins in Hennessey Friends of Library contest

Choate Oilfield Services won both the People’s Choice and Cook’s Choice awards at the Hennessey Friends of the Library’s annual Chili Cookoff Saturday night at the high school cafeteria.
Choate had two cooks in the competition: Logan Long and Matt Hosley. Long and helper David Rader took first place in the 21st annual event chaired by Susan States.
People’s Choice – Choate, first; Girl Scouts, second; Sirrah Investments (Mike Harris) and Matousek Veterinary Clinic, tie, third.
Cook’s Choice – Choate, first; Triple M Truck and Auto (Katha Vaverka), second; King’s Rental (Hannah Whittenburg), Girl Scouts, Community State Bank (Carl Storm), tie, third.
Top Dollar – 4-T’s Family Market (Tim Taylor), first; Girl Scouts, second; Community State Bank, third.
Best Table Decorations – Lippard Realty (Chris Fuksa), first; 4T’s Family Market, second; LaPorte Pharmacy (Nancy and Brandi), third.
Others competing – Garrison Lumber Co. (Joe Garrison), Taggart’s Garden Center (Faye Taggart), Mike Meek, Kingfisher County Sheriff’s Office (Keith Meek), Clif Vogt, Hennessey Fire Department (Aaron Amburn) and JLeeCo.
Door prizes were donated by 4T’s, Garrison Lumber, Turkey Creek Mercantile, Eat It Up!, Prairie Quilt, LaPorte Pharmacy, Taggart’s Garden Center, Honey & Co., Annie’s Flowerhouse and Gifts, Gail’s Grill, Casa Teja, Pizza Hut, Hennessey Auto, Eagle Auto Supply, Heritage Pharmacy, Rooster’s Chicken and Tunes, Out of the Blue, 81 Grill and Bar, JLeeCo., Golden Chick, Sonic, Lippard Realty and Kingfisher Times & Free Press.
Proceeds from the cookoff go to fund library projects.
