Two dominant runs by the team and a stellar performance by an individual Friday lifted Kingfisher to a 64-48 victory at Casady.

Abbie Myers scored 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as KHS improved to 16-3 and assured it remained in the coveted top eight of the final Class 4A rankings prior to the playoff assignments being released later this week.

The junior forward scored 13 points in the second quarter, including eight during a 16-0 run by the Lady Jackets over the final 4:26 of the half.

Casady’s Trinity Boone made a 3-pointer at that mark to give her team a 19-14 lead, capping a 15-5 run for the home team.

At that point, Boone and Kate Naifeh had combined for 17 points. Soon Naifeh would be on the bench with her third foul and Boone didn’t score again until the third quarter.

In the meantime, Kingfisher either fed it inside to Myers or scored points off its press or in transition.

The Lady Jackets led 30-19 at the half and got another 10-0 run in the third quarter for a 20-point lead before Naifeh broke it with free throws.

Between Boone’s 3-pointer in the second quarter and Naifeh’s free throws at 4:47 of the third, KHS went on a 28-3 burst.

Boone’s 3-point shooting and Naifeh’s foul shots kept Casady from getting blown out.

Boone was 5 of 11 from 3-point range and scored 23 points.

Naifeh was 9 of 10 from the foul line in the second half and scored 20 for her team.

However, Casady got five points of production from the rest of the squad.

Kingfisher had three players in double figures.

After a quiet first half in which she only made two free throws, Raegan Snider came alive in the second.

She was a big part of the 10-0 run in the third and scored nine in the quarter.

The senior post finished with 15 points and six boards.

Reese Roof made three 3-pointers and scored 11 points.

Mattie Slezickey, Adlee Friesen and Jancee Matthews all scored four points while Maya Haney scored three.

They were also pivotal in Kingfisher turning over Casady 18 times, which resulted in 23 KHS points. KHS had 12 steals as a team.

    Casady, ranked 18th in

3A, dropped to 12-8 with the loss. The Lady Cyclones beat 3A No. 15 Cascia Hall

    44-33 the following day.

Kingfisher was fifth in Class 4A entering the game and remained in that spot in the rankings that were released Monday.
