Buck tops 1,000 career points; DHS sweeps Senior Night
Rylee Buck was recognized before - and after - Dover’s dominant win Friday.
The Lady Longhorns won their third straight and ninth out of their last 10 by defeating Gracemont 75-28 at home.
Buck was one of five seniors recognized prior to the game as it was Dover’s final regular season contest.
In the game, she scorched the nets with six 3-pointers and a game-high 20 points all in the first half.
After the game, Buck was recognized for having surpassed 1,000 career points.
Joining Buck in the starting lineup were fellow seniors Ashley Gamez, Kynli Boeckman, Madison Goodwin and Joi Caldwell.
Gamez also took part in the early fireworks as she made three 3-pointers and scored all 15 of her points in the first two quarters.
Dover led 24-4 after a quarter and pushed it to 5311 by halftime.
Caldwell scored eight points, Boeckman six and Goodwin five.
Riley Voth took care of much of the second-half scoring when the sophomore poured in all 14 of her points.
The victory improved the Lady Longhorns to 16-7 on the season.
Valles lights up the nets for Longhorns
Luis Valles made his last regular season home game a memorable one.
The Dover senior buried five 3-pointers and scored 19 points Friday as the Longhorns thumped visiting Gracemont 76-11.
The Longhorns’ five seniors were recognized prior to the girls game and all got the start against the Lions.
Valles took full advantage as he made two treys in the first quarter as the Longhorns got out to a 28-0 lead. It was 44-0 at halftime.
All of the seniors got in on the scoring action during that stretch.
Jonah Pendergraft scored all 15 of his points in the first half.
Nathan Cohee scored all six of his, Lucas Conrady added four and Carter Kitchens two.
But Valles kept going.
He nailed another 3-pointer in the third quarter and two more in the fourth.
As a team, Dover made 10 treys and 12 different Longhorns scored.
Kyler Williams made two of the 3-pointers and scored eight points.
Dover improved to 20-2 with the victory.
