Smash headed to state
The Fourth of July is for fireworks. The fifth is for t-ball... at least for the Kingfisher Smash. The collection of Kingfisher youth punched their ticket to the OK Kids state t-ball tournament with last Saturday’s regional championship. The Smash defeated Blanchard 22-15 at Briscoe Park to lay claim to the title. The win advanced the team to this week’s state tournament in Muskogee. The Smash play the host team at 5 p.m. Friday in the opener of the Red bracket. There are eight teams in each the Red and Blue brackets. Two teams will advance from each double-elimination bracket to play in a four-team finale Sunday.
