A late flurry of 3’s wasn’t enough to help Hennessey catch up.

The Eagles were dealt a 64-48 loss by Canute in Saturday’s championship game of the Washita State Bank Classic Invitational at Burns Flat-Dill City.

The defeat snapped a three-game win streak by the Eagles.

Hennessey drained five fourth-quarter 3-pointers, more than doubling its effort to that point.

Three came from Hagen Copeland while Beau Vinson and Braedyn Richardson each made one.

But it wasn’t enough as Canute kept pace inside the arc and at the free throw line, allowing the Trojans to keep most of the 16-point lead they had entering the quarter.

Copeland led his team with 17 points while Camdyn Richardson scored 13 and Hunter Weber nine.

Camdyn Richardson scored 19 points in Friday’s 52-42 victory over Hobart in the semifinals.

He went 5 of 6 from the free throw line and scored seven points in the fourth as the Eagles outscored Hobart 19-10 to put the game away.

Richardson was named to the all-tournament team.

Weber scored 16 in the win.

Hennessey was 3-2 on the season at the tournament’s end. The Lady Eagles went 1-2 in the tournament.

After opening with a win over Fort Cobb-Broxton, they were defeated 53-16 by Canute in the semifinals and 36-25 by Hobart in the consolation championship.

Hennessey’s girls are currently 1-4.
