Lady Jacket softball team earns academic state title
STATE CHAMPS – Members of the Kingfisher High School softball team were honored Saturday at Devon Park. The team was recognized as the Class 4A academic state champion prior to the state title softball game. The team carried a cumulative 3.95 grade point average in earning the honor. Team members were presented with the state championship trophy as well as individual medals. Pictured with a representative of Gateway Bank (far left), which sponsors the OSSAA’s academic state champion awards, are team members, from left: front row, Liliana Garramone, Shelby Davis, Reese Roof, Addison Willson, Kinlee East, Addison Johnson and Callie Blair; and back row, Kynlee Brunson, Serenity Holman, Jancee Matthews, Adlee Friesen, Addyson Brueggen, Kendall Farrar, Ryan Scammahorn, Lily Voth and coaches Aniessa Edsall, Riley Dacus, and Morgan Dutton. Gracie Rowan is not pictured. On the field, KHS finished the season with a 23-9 record and advanced to the regional tournament. Among Kingfisher’s wins this season was 4-2 over Weatherford, the team that finished 33-2 and won the Class 4A state championship. KHS also defeated Elk City, a team that reached the Class 4A state quarterfinals, and Guthrie, a Class 5A state quarterfinalist. [Photo provided]
