Cashion runs away with rivalry win
Wildcats good through the air, too, as they down Crescent 60-29

Kellen Smith threw for four touchdowns and Rivals Fields ran for three more Thursday as Cashion claimed the “War on 74” by downing rival Crescent 6029 on the road.
The win kept the Wildcats in a four-way tie for second place in District A-I-1. They have a 3-1 mark as do Fairview, Hinton and Sayre.
Those also happen to be Cashion’s final three opponents of the season.
After Crescent tied the game at 7-7 in the first quarter, Cashion took hold of the contest with 27 unanswered points.
Fields scored the first three of those touchdowns, which included runs of 2 and 1 yards before he caught a 67-yard scoring pass from Smith.
Maxx Higdon followed that up with an 85-yard interception return for a score as the Wildcats built up a four-score lead.
After Crescent was able to break the streak, Cashion came back with two straight scores.
Smith found Grayson Davis for a 4-yard TD and then Fields scampered in from 42 yards out.
Smith capped his team’s scoring in the third quarter with a 22-yard TD pass to Austin Compton.
Jaden Bolton got it going for Cashion as he found the end zone from 6 yards out.
The visitors moved the ball at will as they tallied 531 yards.
Crescent countered with 344 yards of its own.
Smith threw for 202 yards. Though he was picked off twice, he did throw the four scores.
Fields’ two catches covered 72 yards.
He also led the team on the ground.
Fields got 16 touches and they accounted for 142 yards.
Smith added another 109 yards and Bolton amassed 63 more.
Cashion totaled 329 yards on 36 carries.
The defense forced four turnovers as Smith also picked off a pair of passes.
King Underwood and Kaleb Duran led the team with five tackles apiece.
Ethan Waswo, injured in Cashion’s first game of the season, made his return to the lineup. He managed four tackles as did Hank Brown.
Cashion is 5-2 overall and travels to Sayre next week. The Eagles have an identical overall and district record as Cashion.
