Five different Eagles scored touchdowns Friday as Hennessey took care of business by sending Meeker home with a 49-7 defeat.

The win keeps Hennessey in play for a playoff spot. It won for the third time in four games to improve to 3-3 overall and 2-1 in District 2AII-1.

Hennessey scored the first two TDs of the game and after Meeker cut that lead in half in the second quarter, the Eagles closed the game with five straight scores.

Gunnar Holder played a role in four of them as he rushed for three straight Hennessey touchdowns and threw for another.

His first TD was a 47yard scamper in the second quarter that pushed the Eagles’ lead to 21-7 at the half.

The senior QB then added rushing scores of 12 and 20 yards in the third quarter.

Hemadeitathree-touchdown quarter when he hit Kevin Trillo for a 17-yard score and a 42-7 lead.

Mario Lopez closed it out with a 4-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.

Braedyn Richardson and Jessin Hardin finished up drives in the first quarter. Both scored on 1-yard plunges to stake the 14-0 lead.

In all, Hennessey totaled 240 yards on 38 rushing attempts. Holder led the way with 150 yards on just 10 carries.

He was also 13 of 19 through the air for 131 yards.

Jakob Johns led four different receivers to catch at least one pass. He hauled in four for 51 yards.

The Bulldogs managed just 130 yards of total offense. That included being stuffed on their 23 rushing attempts as they managed only 20 yards.

Hardin and Johns led the defense with six tackles apiece.

The Eagles have two straight road games ahead on their schedule. The first is a trip Thursday to Kellyville. The Ponies enter the game 1-5 overall and 0-3 in the district.
