Walker named OCA All-State
Before she officially becomes a UCO Broncho, Peyton Walker will be a Kingfisher Lady Jacket one last time. Walker was picked up for next week’s Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State girls basketball game, it was announced this week. Walker was originally the first alternate for the Large West, but is now a member of that squad, which includes Classes 4A, 5A and 6A. The Large West will play the Large East at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, at Sapulpa High School as part of the annual OCA All-State Games. Walker was a four-year starter for KHS. During her senior campaign she averaged 6.1 points, 3.5 assists, 3.3 steals and shot 42 percent from 3-point range as KHS went 24-6 and advanced to the area consolation championship game. It was revealed after the season that Walker had finished the season with a broken bone in her foot, which forced her to miss soccer season. Among her other postseason accolades was being named to the Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association All-State team and being named an all-Western Athletic Conference first-team member.
