Leroy M. Milton, M.D., a beloved physician and community leader, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the age of 88.

Born in 1935 near Shawnee, he graduated from Bethel High School in 1952 and continued his education at Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine. Dr. Milton served as a captain in the U.S. Air Force Medical Corps from 1963 to 1965 before beginning a distinguished 60-year career in private practice in McAlester.

He played a key role in developing McAlester Regional Hospital, serving as chief of staff and holding various leadership positions.

Married to his beloved wife, Kathryn, since 1957, Leroy was a devoted family man, raising four children: Susan, John, James (Robin) and Mark (Nicole). He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Austin, Lauren, Alex, Emily, Alice and Sam.

Dr. Milton also served on the Oklahoma Council on Judicial Complaints and had passions for landscape photography, history, classic Jeeps and music.

His legacy of compassion, dedication and service will be remembered by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel, 1402 S. Boulder Ave., Tulsa.
