Richardson qualifies in 4 events for Eagles
Camdyn Richardson medaled in four different events Monday to lead the Hennessey boys to a strong showing at the Class 2A regional track and field meet at Okemah.
Richardson was one of several Eagles to qualify in multiple events.
He was the anchor leg of the winning 800 relay team as he was joined by Gunnar Holder, Weston Smith and his brother, Braedyn Richardson.
That same quartet ended the meet with a silver medal in the mile relay, finishing just behind Fairview.
Holder also claimed a regional championship in the 300 meter hurdles, beating Central’s Braxin Goodson by more than a second.
Camdyn Richardson was also the regional runner- up in the long jump. His leap of 20 feet 7.5 inches was second only to Pocola’s Garrett Scott, who beat him by 1 inch.
Richardson’s silver medal jump came moments after he finished third in the 400 meter dash.
Seth Sims qualified for state by taking third in the 3,200 meter run.
Braedyn Richardson, Kevin Trillo, Jessin Hardin and Smith were fourth in the 400 meter relay.
Luis Montoya also notched three points for Hennessey by taking fifth in the mile run and sixth in the 800.
Hennessey scored 77 team points to finish fourth in the regional.
Fairview won the meet with 110. Warner was second with 90 and Okemah third with 81.
Hennessey’s girls scored four points, all in distance events.
Jocelyn Matousek was fifth in the two-mile run and sixth in the mile while Tayler Franklin took sixth in the two-mile.
