Golf roundup: Reagan paces Jackets to win at P-T; Snider takes 3rd in KHS tournament
Cale Reagan’s third-place showing paced a steady Kingfisher High School boys golf team as it won the Perkins- Tryon Tournament.
Reagan shot a 4-over-par 76 and KHS shot 332 as a team Thursday at Cimarron Trails Golf Course.
That score was four strokes better than runner- up Perry.
Stroud-Davenport was third with a 345 in the 14team field.
Myles Harrison added an 83 for the Jackets, good for eighth individually.
Kingfisher also got an 86 from Luciano Orozco, which placed him 14th; an 87 from Ryan Sanders, good for 16th; and a 90 from Paytun Burnham, which placed him 22nd.
It was Kingfisher’s second tournament of the week.
The Jackets shot a 336 Monday at Lake Hefner Golf Club’s South Course.
That placed them 10th in the Western Athletic Conference Tournament.
Bethany won the tournament with a 301.
Tuttle was the runner-up at 306 and Woodward third with a 312.
Harrison’s 81 led the Jackets.
The junior was 25th among the individuals.
Orozco shot an 83 while Reagan fired an 84, Burnham an 88 and Sanders a 90.
••• Sam Wood fired off the best round of his high school golf career Thursday.
The Dover sophomore shot a 79 at the 2024 Broncho Invitational.
His 7-over-par outing at Lake Hefner Golf Club’s North Course placed him 12th among 60 individuals in the tournament.
He was just seven strokes back of Bethany’s Wyatt Geissler, whose 72 won the tournament.
••• The inaugural Dover Girls Invitational was held last Monday at Kingfisher Golf Course.
The event took the place of the former smallschool tournament hosted by KHS and was proof that every stroke matters in golf.
Casady won the 13-team tournament with a 374.
That was just one stroke better than runner- up Oklahoma Christian School’s 375.
And that beat third-place Merritt’s 376 by just a single stroke.
Mackinlee Brunker of Cordell won medalist honors with a 78.
Harley Shoaf of Arnett was second with an 88.
Locally, Hennessey placed sixth with its 437.
The Lady Eagles were led by Kadee Meeker’s 92, which tied her for fifth.
Also for HHS, Katie Kennedy shot a 117, Taryn Jech a 118, Kallie Rapp a 121 and Marisol Valles a 137.
Playing in her first career tournament, Dover’s Hadlee Bryan finished at 116.
••• The Kingfisher Invitational was Wednesday at Kingfisher Golf Course.
The Lady Jackets didn’t have enough to field a full team, but junior Raegan Snider’s 80 was good for third place among the 74 golfers.
Oklahoma Christian Academy’s Avery Haddock fired a 73 to take first individually.
Gabriella Gross of Heritage Hall shot a 78, good for second.
Heritage Hall was third among the 17 teams with a total of 362.
Oklahoma Christian School was the team champion with a 354 while Guthrie was runner-up at 360. Also for KHS, Kylie Hood shot a 95 while Addison Hood shot 132 in her first career tournament. Bryan of Dover also played with that group and was six strokes better than Monday with her 110.
