5 from county earn OGBCA All-State

The Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association All-State games will once again have a heavy Kingfisher County flavor.
Five seniors from county schools were named to their respective All-State teams last week.
Earning the honor were Peyton Walker and Addy Matthews of Kingfisher, Katelyn Harviston and Karlee Harviston of Dover, and Abby Swart of Lomega.
The Harvistons and Swart were named to the Small West squad, which includes schools from Class 2A down to B.
Walker and Matthews are members of the Middle West squad, which includes 3A and 4A schools.
The OGBCA All-State games are June 1 at Mustang High School.
The Small West plays the Small East at 1 p.m. followed by Large West vs. Large East at 2:30 p.m.
The Middle West and Middle East play at 3:30 p.m.
Matthews won’t get the opportunity to play in the game.
It was revealed after the season that the foot injury she suffered in early February was much more severe than first suspected.
An MRI last week revealed Matthews suffered two torn ligaments and a fractured tibia.
She missed three games, but returned for Kingfish-er’s stretch run in the playoffs.
For the season, Matthews averaged 10.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.7 steals a contest.
She went 59 of 148 from 3-point range, good for 39.9 percent.
Walker also missed multiple games at the end of the regular season and the start of the playoffs with her own foot injury.
Tests after the season revealed she, too, had suffered a fracture in her foot, which has forced her to miss the soccer season.
A University of Central Oklahoma signee, Walker was a four-year starter for KHS.
She averaged 6.1 points, 3.5 assists, 3.3 steals and shot 42 percent from 3-point range during the year.
KHS went 24-6 and advanced to the Class 4A area consolation championship.
Swart guided Lomega to the Class B state championship and a 30-2 record.
She played in four state title games during her career as Lomega also won state in 2021.
She averaged 18 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.8 steals for the Lady Raiders.
Dover was one of only two teams to beat Lomega this season and the Harviston twins were a big reason.
They helped guide the Lady Longhorns to a 28-3 record and the program’s first state tournament appearance since 2007.
Karlee averaged 17.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 3.4 assists per game. She shot 55.7 percent from the field.
Katelyn scored 15.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.1 steals and 5.7 assists and shot 57 percent.
The two recently signed to continue the careers at Redlands Community College.
