OBA tops Cashion for 1st TRC title

Cashion got the regular season matchup.

Oklahoma Bible Academy got the conference tournament championship.

Four days after earning a come-from-behind win at home against OBA, Cashion couldn’t duplicate the feat as the Lady Trojans prevailed 61-54 in the Three Rivers Conference Tournament title game in Hennessey.

OBA got its own comeback win, erasing a seven- point halftime deficit with a 24-11 run in the third quarter.

When the teams met up earlier in the week, it was OBA that got out to the great start, jumping on Cashion 22-6.

The Lady Wildcats erased it with a massive second half.

This time the Lady Trojans got balanced scoring and once they reclaimed the lead, they didn’t give it back.

Four players scored in double figures and one more scored nine.

Lauren Jenkins led Cashion with 23 points while Megan Shafer added 14.

The Lady Wildcats were attempting to win their first conference tournament since 2019, which was the end of a four-year championship run for them.

OBA won the tournament for the first time.

Cashion got into the title game with a 67-52 victory against Fairview in the semifi nals. It led 20-10 after a quarter and built it up to 18 points entering the fourth.

Shafer scored 22 and Jenkins 14 while Madison Westerhoff added nine.

OBA, ranked seventh in Class A entering the tournament, got into the championship with a 48-26 victory against Hennessey in the semifinals.

The Lady Eagles bounced back Saturday to knock off Fairview 42-40 in overtime.

Emma Copeland nailed a 3-pointer with 41 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 34-34 and then the Eagles got a defensive stop in the final seconds.

In the overtime, Star Torres’ three-point play put Hennessey up 37-34 and the Lady Eagles didn’t surrender the lead.

Copeland made 3 of 4 free throws in the final 40 seconds to keep Hennessey up two possessions.

Fairview cut it to two with a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

The win helped offset a slow start.

The Eagles struggled to get going offensively and fell behind 11-4.

Ally Painter scored five of her 10 points in the second as Hennessey cut its deficit to one point.

Kadee Meeker scored eight points, including two free throws in overtime.

Copeland scored seven points.

Okarche also got two wins in the tournament.

The Lady Warriors bounced back from Thursday’s loss to claim the consolation championship.

After beating Crescent 66-20 on Friday, the Lady Warriors handled Watonga 59-38 for the consolation crown.

Okarche was already up seven at halftime when it went on a 14-4 run in the third quarter to take firm control of the game.

Watonga had no answer for Jadyn Rother, who notched 27 points.

Katie Parham added 15 points.

Parham and Rother scored 11 in Friday’s victory.
