Timothy Tipken
Services for Timothy Ray Tipken of Kingfisher will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at the Benson Memorial Chapel in El Reno with pastor Sharon Wilbur of the Ellison Methodist Church officiating.
Tim passed away Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023.
He was born Feb. 12, 1952, in Oklahoma City.
He was an only child and grew up on the family’s farm in Prague.
His family later moved to Kingfisher when Tim was in the first grade. Shortly after moving to Kingfisher, Tim found his passion for sports and began bowling at a young age.
During high school, he played football, basketball and truly excelled in baseball. He graduated from Kingfisher High School in 1970 as a three-sport letterman.
After high school, Tim worked for the family business, Tipken Construction, as a masonry contractor.
He married his first wife and fathered three children, Lance, Tonya, and Shawn.
During this time, he enjoyed racing motocross and stock cars.
He and his family moved to El Reno in 1979 and later Tim joined Pioneer Telephone in 1986. He dedicated over 25 years to Pioneer Telephone working from its office in Blanchard.
He started as an entry level hand eventually working his way to a construction foreman position.
Tim was proud of the work he was able to do for Pioneer Telephone.
He loved going to work every day because of the people he worked with as well as having the responsibility of operating large machinery.
Tim was an avid bowler. He would spend his free time at the El Reno bowling alley and participated in several leagues over the years.
He was also a member of the Kingfisher Golf Course where he played as often as possible.
He was passionate about the Oklahoma Sooners and closely followed both Sooner football and softball.
Tim also enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and attended as many games as possible.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Joyce Aileen (Hudson) Tipken; son, Lance Elliot Tipken; and daughter, Tony Sue Miles.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Shawn Tipken and wife Makyla of El Reno; three grandchildren, Layton Tipken of Union City, Emilia ‘Emma’ Steepe and husband Jake of Yukon, Dax Tipken of El Reno; and a great-grandson, Micah Steepe of Yukon.
