Kingfisher JH cheer 3rd at Game Day state
Kingfisher’s junior high cheer program also made waves this fall.
The team brought home third place from the Class 4A state Game Day competition held late last month.
“We are immensely proud of these girls,” said Lainey Mueggenborg, the cheer team’s sponsor.
The team is coached by Makiah Dewberry and Sara De la Torre.
It was the first time KJH has competed at Game Day.
“Sara and Makiah spent weeks developing and critiquing the routine and the girls spent two months perfecting it,” Mueggenborg added.
Teams are judged on criteria such as motion technique, sharpness, placement, execution of skills, synchronization and crowd involvement at the event.
Class 4A was one of the largest divisions at the competition.
“Their commitment, teamwork and determination paid off and their success is a testament to their exceptional skills and effort,” Mueggenborg said.
“We are excited to compete against next year with the added experience.”
