Varsity golfers 7th at Broncho Invitational
It’s not unusual to see Kingfisher High School golfers on the range or putting green at their home course late in the afternoon.
It is a bit odd after they’ve already played an 18-hole tournament.
But that was the case Wednesday after the Jackets shot 331 at the Lake Hefner Golf Club North Course to finish seventh in Bethany’s Broncho Invitational.
“We’ve had better days,” coach Chris Combs said. “When we got back, many of them went back to work on the driving range.”
Senior Blake Hill led Kingfisher’s charge with a 4-over-par 76. That tied him for 11th out of 87 golfers.
Fellow senior Tristun Burnham was two shots behind Hill, which tied him for 18th.
Cash Slezickey shot an 88, Myles Harrison an 89 and Luciano Orozco a 95.
Jax Sternberger played as an individual and fired an 86.
Community Christian, led by Collin Bond, won the tournament with a CCS was 18 strokes better than runner-up Tuttle. Latta took third with 314, which was one stroke better than Crossings Christian. Bethany was fifth with 318 and Blanchard sixth at 319. There were 18 full teams in the tournament.
295. The Royals’ highest counted score was a 77.
Bond, an Oklahoma State University commit, shot a 4-under 68, as did Christian Heritage Academy’s Christian Johnson.
Bond won in a playoff.
