Barton, Braun toss no-hitters
Arms and bats came together for the first time this season for the Kingfisher baseball team.
Anadarko paid the price. The Jackets swept the Warriors 13-0 and 10-0 in five-inning run rule games Monday at Homier Field to begin their District 4A-4 slate.
In grabbing their first two wins of the season, the Jackets got their two best offensive outputs and also saw a pair of no-hitters tossed.
The opener saw one delivered by Dallen Barton as he struck out 11 Warriors batters without surrendering a walk.
Jett Braun followed with a 14 strikeout performance while walking just two.
Braun had two hits, two stolen bases and scored a run in the initial victory.
Up 3-0 after two innings, the Jackets put the game away with a seven-run third.
After taking advantage of multiple errors and free bases surrendered by the Warriors, KHS got back-toback- to-back run-scoring hits.
Barton delivered an RBI double before Tanner Parker followed with a single that brought home another.
Eli Johnson capped it with a single to center for another run to push the score to 10-0.
The Jackets had 10 hits in the game.
Barton and Parker joined Braun with two each. Parker drove in two runs.
KHS had 12 hits during Braun’s no-hitter.
This time it was a ninerun second that did much of the damage.
Barton, Johnson and Bode Williams each had two-run hits in the inning.
Damien Haynes, Braun, Johnson and Barton collected two hits apiece.
The Jackets were 2-5 after the wins.
They were set to play Thursday and Friday in the Edmond Spring Break Festival before returning home Monday to host Western Heights in more district matchups.
