Frances ‘Louise’ McFarlin
Frances “Louise” Mc-Farlin, 93, of Kingfisher, passed peacefully from this life on Jan. 8, 2023, at Cimarron Nursing Center.
Louise was born to Lewis and Mildred (Coy) Bohannon on Oct. 26, 1929, in Drumright and later moved to Cushing.
She graduated from Cushing High School in 1947.
Later that year, through her cousin, she met the love of her life, Howard Mc-Farlin. Louise and Howard were married on Jan. 1, 1948, in Cushing and established a home there.
To this union, they had two daughters, Linda and Cindy.
Louise was hardworking and had many career paths throughout her life, starting at Woolworths while in high school.
Louise and Howard owned and operated a full-service gas station in Cushing during the early years of their marriage, where she managed the finances.
In 1963, her family would move to Blackwell where she was a devoted and loving wife, mother and homemaker.
Then again, in 1973, they would move to Kingfisher.
While living in Kingfisher, Louise decided to go back to work for Kingfisher Public Schools as a cook. She would work for the school until she retired in 1987.
Louise and Howard then moved to Checotah to live on Lake Eufaula and enjoy their retirement years.
In 2011 due to health issues, they would move back to Kingfisher to be close to family.
Louise was an amazing seamstress, sewing many clothes for her girls, and a wonderful cook, always preparing home-cooked meals for her family and everyone was welcome at her table.
Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she spent many holidays and summers making memories and “spoiling” them all.
Louise also had a beautiful voice in which she loved to sing with her husband, sisters and group of family and friends. They enjoyed singing at church and would meet monthly to play music, often visiting local nursing homes to sing for the residents.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband Howard, to whom she was married for 72 years; her parents; sister LaVerla Nichols and husband Junior; brother Bobby Bohannon; brother- in-law Ronald Adkins; son-in-law Gerry Brueggen; brother-in-law Roy Mc-Farlin and sister-in-law Glenda McFarlin; one niece and two great-great-grandchildren.
She is survived by daughter Linda Magers and husband Nate of San Angelo, Texas; daughter Cindy Brueggen of Kingfisher; sister Ruann Clinesmith of Stillwater; brother-in-law and sister-in-law JD and Nancy McFarlin of Cushing; four grandchildren, Brian Magers and wife Patty and Brad Magers and wife Gail, all of San Angelo, Greg Brueggen and wife Kara of Okarche, and Amy Wanzer and husband Justin of Kingfisher; seven great-grandchildren, Brianna Simpson and husband Justin, Skylar Magers, and Tylar Magers, all of San Angelo, Austin Magers of El Reno, Addyson Brueggen and Beau Brueggen of Okarche, and Hannah Wanzer of Kingfisher; and two great-great-grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
