Teams take part in hardwood tournaments this week
All seven local schools are taking advantage of the first of three major basketball tournament weeks of the season.
The Kingfisher High School girls are traveling to Cleveland to defend their title in that tournament beginning Thursday.
The KHS boys won’t be taking part as they’re playing later this month in the Tournament of Champions in Tulsa.
The Okarche girls are also playing in the TOC, which means they won’t be taking to the court this week at the tournament in Garber.
Okarche’s boys, however, will be playing in the NextEra Energy Resources Invitational at Garber.
Cashion’s boys and girls will be joining the Okarche boys in that invitational.
Hennessey’s teams are playing in the weeklong Frontier Shootout (Hennessey’s boys already played on Monday).
Crescent and Lomega are both playing in the Canton Invitational and Dover is taking part in the Cimarron Winter Classic.
Results of the early rounds of those tournaments will be in the weekend edition.
Also on Tuesday, after press time, the Kingfisher High School wrestling team made its home dual debut when it hosted Hinton at the APB.
Results from that dual will also be in our weekend edition.
The KHS basketball teams have their home openers next Tuesday against Newcastle.
